Planning Meetings go Well
Parent and student meetings for the new school year went well this week. Many parents attended the information session Wednesday night. Mentor, Scott Cornelius offered some experiences about past robotics competitions and the focus of a middle school team. His wife, and technology director and teacher, Judy Cornelius spoke about the "robotics club" being an activity for anyone, not only those who want to experience building a robot. Parents were encouraged to let their kids stop by and take a look during the student information meeting to be held the next afternoon. Twelve students attended and brought enthusiastic ideas for the club and the robotics competition. A scope of skills were identified including students who recognized their own ability to analyze information, solve problems, think creatively and help the club stay organized. Several students offered their skills to work on the notebook rather than build the robot. Any everyone agreed that the meetings would have to include snacks!
